SAFE SLEEPING | HELPFUL HINTS

  1. Never add an additional mattress in a portable cot. This can create suffocation hazards if theinfant rolls into the side.

  2. Always use a firm mattress. Infants need a firm base, so they don’t get exposed to “bad air”.

  3. Do not add pillows, soft toys, or bumpers to infant sleep environments. These products canblock the infants’ airways.

  4. Do not use an inclined sleep surface. Inclined sleep surfaces can result in blocked airwayscreating a chin to chest hazard.

  5. Infants sleep unsupervised in cots. Make sure cots do not have hazards that reduce goodair.
