​AIR PERMEABILITY / BREATHABILITY

 

This issue of air permeability / breathability causes widespread confusion amongst consumers. Adding to this confusion is the desire of some marketers to make claims about products being “breathable”.
 

Consumers are advised to be on the alert for these claims as a product may allow air to pass through but when added to other items, it can create a hazard with a capture of CO 2 which can then be rebreathed.
 

There are test methodologies used to measure vapour transfer, but NO clearly defined acceptable levels are part of these standards just a test methodology.
