Michael Wuest

Intertek Global Hardline

Michael Wuest works for the Intertek Global Hardline tech team, based in Hong Kong.

He has a background in Mechanical Engineering and came to Hong Kong at the beginning

of the 90s. He has worked in Asia in various sectors and positions, gaining wide experience

in a variety of fields and systems.


Since joining Intertek in 2001 he has been instrumental in the successful development of the

mechanical Consumer Product Safety Certification system in Asia for the German GS-mark

and has planned and set-up testing laboratories in Germany Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand,

India and France. His work has always been about the safety of consumers through product

assessment against laws and standards.


With the rising development of childcare and nursery products in the various consumer

markets the need for more involvement in the sector was a natural development to involve in

standardization work some 10 years ago initially in the German DIN where he chairs the

national committee, then CEN, ISO and SA. 


In his role as an INPAA safety ambassador he is active in international standards

development and brings this knowledge to INPAA activities promoting greater understanding

of evolving trends in injury prevention. Michael continues to bring extensive expertise to

INPAA forums and is a major asset for facilitating communication between international

testing authorities and industry suppliers.


As a strong supporter of INPAA initiatives he is helping the Australian industry develop

leadership in standards development especially in relation to infant sleep safety.
